Kalıp Nasıl Kurulur ve Nasıl Cevap Verilir?
“Where is the…?” sorusunda “the” kullanırız, çünkü belirli ve bilinen bir yeri soruyoruz: şehrin hastanesi, kaldığımız otel gibi. Herhangi bir bankayı arıyorsanız “Where is a bank?” yerine “Is there a bank near here?” demek çok daha doğaldır. Cevap verirken “It’s” ile başlayıp next to, opposite, between, behind, on the corner gibi ifadeler kullanılır.
- Is there a pharmacy near here? – Buralarda eczane var mı?
- Where is the nearest bank? – En yakın banka nerede?
- Go straight. / Turn left. / Turn right. – Düz gidin. / Sola dönün. / Sağa dönün.
- It’s a five-minute walk. – Yürüyerek beş dakika.
- Dikkat: apartment – “Apartman” değil, “daire” demektir. Binanın tamamı için “apartment building” (İngiliz İngilizcesinde “block of flats”) denir; daireye İngilizler “flat” der.
